    Here is the bit:

    Gotta love Lew.

  2. Bornagain A. Theist Says:

Lewis is a great comedian, but the essence of this quote is no joke at all. Anyone who denies evolution or attributes this earth and the plants and animals on it to some sort of magic performed by a god is delusional.

And it IS dangerous for people to believe in gods; it is wrong. When I first realized that all religions were myths, I thought it was probably alright if others believed, but it is not. They are passing along falsehoods to their friends and families. Each time that a child is taught that there is a god or that prayers mean something, the natural order of life itself is disrupted and the person or people who teach such things do harm to humanity.

  3. Alavi Hossain Says:

it is really frustrating to me that there are still so many people who will not accept a scientific fact. it seems that people are hardwired to find evolution hard to believe. it is accepted among the scientific community just as the earth is is accepted to be 4.5 billion years old or that the earth revolves around the sun. if the “gaps” found in evolution were a worthy reason to abandon a scientific theory, then no science would hold any legitimacy what so ever. creationists want 16 new fossils for every 16 we find. where will it end? rejecting evolution is like saying “the speed of light has been wrongly calculated, so Einsteinian physics is wrong; the distance and speed of other galaxies has been wrongly calculated, meaning that all of astronomy and therefore Newtonian physics are also wrong. so for informed people to challenge accepted scientific orthodoxy on the basis of proper evidence is always healthy, but to debunk the whole of science on the back of a story passed down by some Iron Age goat-herders is just self-delusion.”

  4. solomon Says:

Evolution! WHAT?? Its a shit word!
It can’t explain other than how life begins. Can it explain how other bodies like planets, atoms exists? Can it explain why foods or fruits are admirable to the taste buds.It can’t explain many other things. No sane human gonna buy that.

  5. solomon Says:

You don’t have to search many fossils.Just provide a set of fossils the gradual transformation from a common ancestor to ape or man that must have existed in abundance if evolution is true.I give you a century to collect it.Now start diggin’.Whaaaa..ka..ka.ka…..

  6. Atheros Says:

Sol, haha – you are a funny guy you know..

I’m sure you are an atheist taking the piss – just to wind people in here up.

  7. CaptainZero1969 Says:

Atheros – I pegged r(sol) as putting us on a long while ago and he’s still at it. I’m with you – NO ONE could be that much of a (expletive deleted). If he’s not a poseur, then he really shouldn’t be allowed on the giant metal birds without very careful screening.

  8. Alavi Hossain Says:

do u know how rare it is to find a fossil? there would have to have been a lot of set conditions for one to have formed. and like ive said about 2000 times, we dont need to have those fossils. there is enough genetic, biochemical, anatomical, and chemical evidence to show our relation to every modern species. if u declare those to be conspiracies, then a lot of other sciences would be wrong as well. im not boasting by saying im a biologist, im just telling you i know better than you do as to how this particular science works…actually any science it seems like. ur using baseless arguments which hold no scientific validity.

“It can’t explain other than how life begins. Can it explain how other bodies like planets, atoms exists? Can it explain why foods or fruits are admirable to the taste buds.It can’t explain many other things. No sane human gonna buy that.”

of course it only explains life, biology is the study of life. nobody said it explains the cosmos or gravity. that pertains to physics and cosmology. but it can explain the relation between taste buds and fruits. id like to go into detail, but u wouldnt believe me anyways. ur response would be something like “these are bluffs made by liars=atheism=anal sex with my father=hell melting face.” but ill give u a few articles just for clarification:

  9. CaptainZero1969 Says:

Here is a book for Tech and Sol:

Tech, I apologize if you are NOT in the ‘evolution denier’ camp.

  10. solomon Says:

I’am no Atheists. You’ll gradually understand me.

  11. solomon Says:

Creationism fits every reasoning on existence while evolution can hardly explains the complexity of even a single life origin.

  12. solomon Says:

Evolution is just a hoax followed by fools to refute creationism.

  13. Hypatia Says:

sol – you’re just showing your lack of education.

The sad fact is that if Muslims take this attitude in the face of overwhelming scientific evidence their societies will remain poor and wretched whilst the rest of the world moves forward.

  14. solomon Says:

“sol – you’re just showing your lack of education.”
That is just your word and the real fact is way out.You are talking as if were opposing science trying to twist viewers. We recognise science too but science as with other knowledge is only a tool and have its weaknesses. There are other higher branches of knowledge.

  15. tech Says:

Bat what your unloading this day S M E L L S.I thinks its bats life that needs order.Hoosane when are you going to come up with something new to say.The Atheist puts his trust in mere man and I put my trust in God.Why would I read such trash Caption Zero?

  16. PEB Says:

Evolution is only refuted by religion because it exposes their historic texts as simple medieval stories. Evolution is simple, beautiful and brutal but it’s inconvenient to what they believe.
I don’t believe sol is being serious. It’s a joke.

  17. solomon Says:

Evolution is a hoax.If you want to stick to your dogma thats up to you.But would you care to explain who creates the 1st. design?Would you say the 1st. design is the product of evolution too?

  18. Hypatia Says:

would you care to explain who creates the 1st. design?

But that’s Abiogenesis which has nothing to do with Evolution. You’re confusing two separate issues which again reveals your lack of education (apart from rote learning of the Koran presumably).

  19. Bornagain A. Theist Says:

Well, CZ, you got your answer from Tech. He has no interest in truth (I once thought he did); gets his answers “from god” – which can only mean from a combination of the bronze age book and the fellow ignoramuses he likely calls “brothers and sisters”.

Recognizing the evolution is a clearly defined hypothesis that meets and withstands all tests is not placing trust in men, dear boy. It is placing trust in science and the scientific method.

And I believe that Sol is absolutely serious. I think those of us with the ability to think rationally and scientifically need to maintain an awareness that we have a far more serious foe than many of us want to believe. While I think that I recognize the deep fanaticism of religious belief, particularly conspicuously wrong religious thought, I still am amazed that folks like Sol just outright refuse to pay any attention at all to logic and reason.

And just so you will understand, Sol, the Theory of Evolution does not attempt to explain the origin of life. That is another subject entirely. Evolution explains (in a nutshell) how biological entities move from a simple state to a more complex state.

BAT (as in bat-shit-crazy if it makes you feel better, boys and girls)

  20. steve Says:

Thanks for posting that, Cap’n. Lewis Black’s bit on evolution is priceless; he does a wonderful job of skewering the loonies. Maybe that explains the uptick in troll activity today.

As far as the trolls go, I believe Tech is legitimate. I have met too many developmentally stunted guys like him who can function adequately one moment and then go bat-shat moody or nuts the next. When the pressure gets too much, they just spew out religious rants to attempt control of the world they fear. Even if Tech were not real, there others out there who are screwed up just like him.

But for old “#1, #2, Sollie”, well, I believe I have been royally suckered. The joke might be on me, but you have to admit that it was funny when I parodied him and he took me as an ally. And apparently the Admin is in on the joke, since he has posted warnings about ‘comments must relate to the quote’, but still tolerates the Sollie character without restriction. Sollie seldom posts on topic, yet his character does drum up interest, if only our incredulity at the racist, homophobic, superstitious, and ignorant tripe he spews. The Sollie character is only here to whip up activity.

If he were real, he would have blown himself up by now!

  21. PEB Says:

I’m with you Steve. If Sol is educated enough to use the internet and a keyboard then he is educated enough to know evolution isn’t just a theory. He’s a hoax.
“would you care to explain who creates the 1st. design” – clearly written by someone expecting an answer like “there is no design……etc”

  22. CaptainZero1969 Says:

    Techie like twaddle
So he reads aloud his bible
And at every full stop, shouts hooray!

    Cap’n Z prefers the bottle
    And thinks religion is awful
And would rather read Darwin all day.

  23. John Says:

I think sollie “is” the missing link. His rants are ape like and his fear of homosexuals comes from his keen understanding that all he will receive in death is a bunch of smelly male asses blown on him in the explosion in his tent.

  24. The Heretic Says:

I agree with the quote, but beware making Science your religion. Scientists who knew better, but had an agenda, turned science upsidedown with global warming. People still follow dogmatically, regardless of what evidence of fraud has been brought to light. That is the essence of Religion, is it not? Governments are still discussing regulating carbon emissions, when unfraudulent science has already said that it is harmless (polution is a different topic.) Dogma can be difficult to unlodge.

  25. Atheist MC Says:

Evolution explains (in a nutshell) how biological entities move from a simple state to a more complex state.

Not to be picky (well alright , picky it is) Evolution explains how diversity arises from a smaller subset of organisms. Complexity is sometimes a consequence of this but not always.
You are tight of course to explain to Sol that evolution is not the same as abiogenesis, but of course once simple relicating chemicals are available, evolution will apply in the sense that the most succsessful replicators will predominate.
New scientist has an article this week with evidence that given the chemicals available on the early earth life was practically inevitable.
Not that this will influence Sol at all.

  26. steve Says:

Heretic, you lost me on that one.

I get the part about not making Science your religion.

But identifying “unfraudulent science” is always a challenge. I think the whole point is that science can and does make mistakes. That is why they have peer review and constant revision.

As far as global warming, what I read leads me to believe that it is indeed a very real threat. I do not proclaim myself an expert, or even properly schooled in GW; but it is pretty obvious that our overpopulation has had an effect.

What fraud are you referring to?

And yeah, this is all part of that great tapestry of reality as well 🙂

  27. tech Says:

I honestly don’t know where you guys get all the spare time to be at this stuff. Don’t you have a life?I’m just to busy enjoying life to be concerned about what science says about anything. You can’t explain away God.Lord knows you try. But you can’t

  28. steve Says:

#1, #2. tech. You are here, so obviously you have the time. Why not show some evidence for your position?

  29. Alavi Hossain Says:

too busy to worry about science has to say about anything, tech? you don’t ever contemplate the world around you? just saying it was god seems to be enough for you i guess. if everyone thought like you, we would get absolutely nowhere. thats exactly why i speak out against religion because people like you are satisfied with not understanding. your ruin the beauty of life itself by giving it a “simple” explanation. it’s actually just too easy to explain away god, at least the theistic ones that everyone believes in. its very funny that you and solomon are exactly the same, but you argue with each other because of the religion you follow, when both of them have virtually no proof for them. you have yet to show a single piece of evidence for your position besides your personal feelings.

  30. Alavi Hossain Says:

and solomon, since the topic came up again, let me ask you a question: if we were a magically created species, why did your god give us so many useless body parts? the appendix, the tail bone, body hair, and male nipples have no function in the body.

  31. tech Says:

Well Mr.Hossian where is it exactly do you think your going.Your going to live as long as God gives you on this earth like everyone else. Then you will die and all that knowledge with you.And then yes the judgement. what a pity, no excuse you were told.Just as it was in the days of Noah so shall it be in our day.

  32. steve Says:

Really, Tech? “Just as it was in the days of Noah…”?

You are saying that God is here talking folks into building a BIG boat?

Where, exactly can I find this current exchange?

If you can back this talk up with facts, I would love to listen in…

Now we are getting further from the Tapestry of Reality, aren’t we?

Same promise as before: If you can produce any real, tangible, credible evidence I will apologize, shut up, and go away. Your ball, dude.

  33. CaptainZero1969 Says:

Tech – what an obscene thought that you have the time god gives you. So god is responsible for childhood cancer and car accidents and any other thing that cuts short the life of a blameless innocent? God, in your conception, is a capricious mass-murderer.

P.S. Noah was a drunk that punished his own child horribly for the “crime” of covering him up when he was too sloppy drunk to have clothes on. And THIS is the moral paragon that god thought was worth saving? Please…

  34. Alavi Hossain Says:

what a terrible view to have on life. i think you enjoy being a slave, tech. u get off to submission and living in fear. why would you not want to help a fellow human being by discovering new medicine? is it a sin to try and find ways to preserve our environment? it seems that the god you follow doesnt want you to learn, or maybe you dont want to learn because you would see how wrong you are. you may as well be living like those ignorant sheep herders in your ancient coloring book if thats the mindset you have. i really do think the greatest trick god ever pulled was convincing people that he existed. isnt that some messed up psychology??! haha. please tech, provide some concrete evidence besides how god saved you for an argument such as this for your side. are you just going to ignore all the evidence that is put forth for evolution? it seems so. is it all just a big scam designed by scientists to destroy religion? no, but we are very fortunate that it does so.

  35. solomon Says:

Don’t rant uselessly folks.I have only one simple question to refute the Evolution theory.Who creates the 1st design of things? Is it the product of evolution too?

  36. CaptainZero1969 Says:

Sol – There isn’t presently a theory of abiogenesis. Hypotheses yes, a theory no. Your question presupposes that abiogenesis required a ‘who’. A better question would be ‘was abiogenesis a natural or a supernatural process?’

Since we see examples of natural processes every day but have never once observed a supernatural one, it’s reasonable to assume that abiogenesis was the result of some as yet undescribed natural process.

But, some people insist on believing in ghosts. What can you do but sigh?

  37. solomon Says:

Of course every existence needs explaination of its creator.Logic demands us that reasoning. How come a toy or a car pop up by itself or undergoes evolution?Natural or supernatural(as you put it) process is just the same but you fail to understand it.When you see a tree full grown from seed daily over the years you call it natural process. But when the tree just pop up instantly in front of your eyes thats where you will term it as magic or supernatural. But imagine if the growth process is speeded up tremendously,as if the tree just appear like some magic, now would it become a natural process too?

  38. CaptainZero1969 Says:

Sol – you pretty much nailed the essential difference between your mode of thinking and mine. Neither of us has the answer to how it all began. I’m comfortable with a gap in my knowledge and you aren’t. I can say “I don’t know” whereas you must say “god did it”. From my perspective, accepting that the genesis of the DNA molecule is largely a mystery is far preferable to injecting an even larger mystery, that is, a creator god. Compounding mysteries is silly unless there’s a good reason. So far, no good reason has been put forward. Books by the ignorant or power hungry don’t count as evidence.

No one suggests toys aren’t made and trees don’t just pop up. Those are common and rather silly straw man arguments with no real weight.

  39. solomon Says:

If you can accept the simple toy have its creator, then why can’t you accept the complicated process of creating just one single cell has its creator too?You are just one simple example of a stone hearted dude.

  40. solomon Says:

    Dear Alavi,

You claim yourself a biologist yet you deny the functions of some of human body parts. What kind of a biologist are you.Youre a lousy biologist graduated from a lousy school.No…no..the main reason is your heart is shut until you can’t see or figure out things.

    To answer your question in a silly way hear this;

appendix=New studies propose that the appendix may harbor and protect bacteria that are beneficial in the function of the human colon.(wikipedia)

tailbone or coccyx=it is an important attachment for various muscles, tendons and ligaments .Additionally, it is also part of the weight-bearing tripod structure which act as a support for a sitting person. As the sitting person leans backward, more weight is transferred to the coccyx.(wikipedia)

body hair= The hair on our bodies is a characteristic of mammals (animals that nurse their young with milk). Hair plays many important roles–warmth and protection from germs for example. Hair also helps reduce friction–and thereby irritation–in skin-to-skin contact, like under your arms. The most fascinating role of body hair, however, is to assist olfactory (relating to smell) communication. (science world). Its also a convenient way to drive away mosquito from approaching your flesh(source;solomon)

male nipples=if male don’t have nipples, then females won’t have nipples too you scum. Then how the baby or you want to suck it.Don’t you biologist realize that the product of the male & female genes produce a new offsprings equipped with every possible body parts. Therefore males must have nipples in order to make females have nipples too.Whether the nipples functions in either sex is of no question.(source:solomon)

The moral of the story is that all body parts created by God have its functions.Thats all folks.

  41. Hypatia Says:

why can’t you accept the complicated process of creating just one single cell has its creator too

    1) It’s pure speculation.

    2) Because it’s flawed – how did the creator come into existence?

  42. Alavi Hossain Says:

i think you’re getting all your information from wikipedia sollie. you could write a definition for anything there. read any medical journal and you’ll see that the appendix is hardly necessary, even if it has the minor function that you named. and you really think body hair is necessary for heat? yeah, our mustaches are critical to survival when trapped in the himalayas and the hair between our asscheeks is a real life-saver. and did you know that many people remove the coccyx? it is not necessary to keep our body functioning properly. and your highlighting my point of the nipples exactly. nipples form before sex is determined. but they only have a function in females. so of course the question of their function is valid…why didnt god just make it so nipples formed after the sex was determined?

  43. solomon Says:

Alavi, you can blantantly dare to say again nipples have functions in females only, not in males. Why do I have to clarify this….The function of male nipples is to make sure that females developed nipples too.!!! Why is it so hard for you to accept it.So male tits have its functions you scum!

“…why didnt god just make it so nipples formed after the sex was determined?”

To answer this is just to question yourself

“…why didnt god just make it so your nose formed after the sex was determined?”

  44. Alavi Hossain Says:

haha ur so retarded sollie. a baby gets its sex organs through gene inheritance from the male OR the female, not both. the embryo follows a ‘female template’. that is why nipples are present in both sexes. it is the effect of the genes, the Y chromosome and the hormone testosterone that brings about the changes and masculinises the embryo. so it wouldnt matter if the male had nipples or not. with your logic, a baby would have a penis and a vagina. this cleary isnt the case. and the male has facial hair, why doesnt a female baby get that too? ur question about the nose is nonsense, the nose clearly has a function and has nothing to do with sexual differentiation. nipples on the other hand, have a function in women but not in men.
