gee whiz………….change a word here and there and you’ve got the perfect justification for HITLER YOUTH !!!
fired-up believers are always APPALLING .

What I find more appalling is a fired up atheist who doesn’t know what they are talking about.

If religious types are so confident in their beliefs and the power of their almighty god then why do they feel the need to indoctrinate their children at such a young age? Are they not confident their children will grow up and share their faith independently?
Of course not. They know their religion is not unfallable and closer, more mature investigation reveals it’s absurdity.
Only children believe in Santa. Only children believe in the tooth fairy. Only children can be convinced there is a god.

Children are born non-theists. You have to teach them dogma and teach them to ridicule inquiry of the world around them for them to become religious.

YAY for PEB

Was’nt the current Catholic Tooth Fairy chief rep a past member of the Hitler Youth? Is this just a coincidence or some inbred need for ORDER WITH CONTROL?
September 5th, 2010 at 16:05
Well you can either try to score some converts along the way…. OR you can keep a tight grip on the ones you have- forcing them to raise their children with your dogma. Which is easier?

Religious people always insist that they have the RIGHT to raise their kids as they see fit. Should they really be allowed to harm their own children? If you allow your six year old to wrestle alligators, would the child removed from your care by the authorities?
How is convincing children to believe a bunch of harmful unsubstantiated beliefs any different? I would argue that religious parents should have NOT the right to raise their children on anything other then facts. Since religion has none regarding a god, it should be illegal to force it upon children.

“Religious people always insist that they have the RIGHT to raise their kids as they see fit.”
The trouble is is that they haven’t the brains to realize that is isn’t how they, themselves see fit but the church that has doctored them into it in the first place.
Puppet church going parents.

Actually the Hitler Youth could actually see the man at the top!! At least Hitler existed.. Cant say the same for a god(s)
Doctoring youth is rife and not just by churches, dictators, suicide bombers et al.. You could argue that the system in the USA (and other countries) that demands that children swear allegiance to a flag is a form of indoctrination too… How is making them swear allegiance the right thing to do when the youngest of them probably have no idea on what they are actually swearing… I suppose the flag is real too, though…..

Teaching religion is just the same thing as teaching other fields of knowledge for one to lead a better & truthful life. Its no offense. Its just like teaching your child various skills that they needed in carrying out life. Its better than to let children get swayed with their own misguided thoughts like most of the Atheists have become.

Again, I’ll raise what I did in the last post. Why do you think the Pope is so against things like contraception and abortion? I highly doubt it’s because he truly loves the children (especially since he won’t pay for their rearing). Instead it’s because he knows that it’s a secure future. The more children that are born within the Catholic walls, the more money that will be gathered once that child is old enough to work.
It’s a cheap ninja way of proselytizing, and just about every religion does it.

@ holysmokes:
Is believing in a god really harmful? Giving someone hope in life can hardly be called harmful. If the kid isn’t taught to think for themselves then that it definitely harmful, but I was brought up in a Christian family, and I was always taught to think for myself- I plan on studying Philosophy at uni.
And as for there being no evidence to support there being a God, let’s start with the empty tomb. On the 9th of April, 30AD the tomb of Joseph of Arimathea (where Jesus was lain) was found empty. Why?
http://www.unlimitedglory.org/txtreality.html – says pretty much what I want to say.
@ solomon: “Its better than to let children get swayed with their own misguided thoughts like most of the Atheists have become.”
What do you mean by that? It seems you’re doing what most of the people commenting here are doing: lumping all people of a certain belief together and assuming they all behave a certain way. 😉
@ Mike G: “Well you can either try to score some converts along the way…. OR you can keep a tight grip on the ones you have- forcing them to raise their children with your dogma. Which is easier?”
What about places where Christianity is/was illegal like China and the Republic of Dagestan? Places where a 16-yr-old girl was shot in the head for refusing to spit on a Bible. You really think that a 16-yr-old living someone where her life is threatened on a regular basis has been manipulated into believing in Jesus?
What about Burundi? Last year a bunch of young people went out and preached the gospel. 33 witchdoctors burnt their scrolls. That’s like burning several £ million. You think they were manipulated into destroying their livelihood? You think they were manipulated into spending the next few years of their lives being ruthlessly persecuted for converting to Christianity? You can’t say that the heads of a community are as impetuous, gullible and misguided as a bunch of 5-yr-olds.
